Mark Kesselring: Fighting the Pirates in 2010

Mark Kesselring was an employee of Lakeview Farms for four years (1983 thru 1986) who went on to get an electrical engineering degree at the University of Colorado.  Mark was also a naval ROTC cadet at Colorado and became fully commissioned in the Navy (1991).

After numerous assignments over the years to various naval vessels and attendance at the prestigious Naval War College, Mark assumed command of the USS Nicholas, a Guided Missal Frigate

For those of you that missed April 1, 2010 news accounts of the USSS Nicholas' encounter with some  East African pirates there is a good summary in the Saint Louis Post Dispatch's online news StlToday.com.

Despite all the Naval training and education Mark had over the years I'm sure "fighting pirates" was not included in the curriculum.

Mark's dad dropped by the farm in May 2010 and remarked that Mark was very startled by all the national attention and publicity.
