Strawberry picking will start May 20

Two Helpers While some variability in ripening from one row to the next is normal early in the season, 2016 may prove especially challenging to "early bird" pickers who will need to cover a little extra ground this year. I would not recommend coming with the expectation of bringing home huge quantities of berries but if you need just a few fresh-from-the-farm berries, this "early bird" picking might be just right for you. The new Flavorfest and Mayflower varieties look excellent but the Cabot seems extremely variable row to row and generally not as huge as normal for early in the season. Current plans are to start picking on Friday, May 20 -- about the same time as last year! We will open at 7:30 AM and close when we run out of berries or 11:00 AM -- whichever comes first. Peak strawberry picking for 2016 will probably be May 27 thru June 11.

For more detailed information on our strawberry hours & season click on http://www.lakeview-farms.com/StrawberrySeason.htm Early in the season it is always a good idea (particularly if you are coming later in the morning) to call the farm right before you drive out to get an up-to-date status report on strawberry availability and picking conditions.

Red Raspberry picking should begin about May 27

Our Raspberry crop for 2016 looks excellent and probably even earlier than last year. For more information on our Red, Yellow, and Black Raspberry season see http://www.lakeview-farms.com/EarlyRaspberrySeason.htm.
